JMC Food Drive
We collected 88 pounds of food and other needed items. The summer can be a very difficult time for people who struggle with food insecurity. Food insecurity means not having access to enough nutritious food to lead an active, healthy life. These neighbors, friends, and fellow citizens are also disproportionately impacted by diet related diseases such as diabetes and high blood pressure.
We were able to nearly double our goal due to the generosity of our supporters!
1 in 7.5 people, or an estimated 755,400 people, in metro Atlanta and north Georgia turn to food pantries and meal service programs to feed themselves and their families each year. This includes more than 164,000 children and more than 64,000 seniors. The Atlanta Community Food Bank distributes over 60 million meals to more than 755,000 people in 29 counties across metro Atlanta and north Georgia. The mission of the Atlanta Community Food Bank is to fight hunger by engaging, educating and empowering the community. While their core work is food distribution, their efforts extend far beyond that – from supporting community gardens to assisting people in finding economic security. If you are interested in hosting your own drive or volunteering, you can sign up on the ACFB website.
JMC was proud to host a Food and Fund Drive to assist this non-profit organization – JMC staff, family and friends worked together to raise over $1700 and 88 pounds of food!
