Bonny Lewis Van to sit on American Association of Bioanalysts National Board of Directors

The American Association of Bioanalysts (AAB) has been protecting the interests and mission of clinical laboratory specialists for over 60 years. The AAB performs many functions, including advocacy for clinical laboratory funding and visibility, continuing education for laboratory professionals, and facilitating communication between different professional laboratory organizations. Over the years, as political administrations come and go, the AAB has consistently provided a voice for bioanalysts on the national level.

Within AAB there are several groups which allow members to better identify and discuss topics of special interest. Among these is the Environmental Biology and Public Health (EBPH) Section. The EBPH Section addresses the needs of members interested in environmental biology and public health by providing workshops and meetings, representation before legislative bodies, management and administrative information, and networking with other professionals.

Bonny Lewis Van has been a member of AAB for three years, and this is her second term as the Midwestern Region Representative to the EBPH Section. This year she will also serve as the Chair of the section and sit on the AAB National Board of Directors. In this role she will ensure the interests of Midwestern Bioanalysts and the EBPH Section are accurately represented in wider AAB activities and on the national stage.

In our continued work with laboratories and public health agencies, we at JMC have seen firsthand the need for clinical laboratory specialists and the important work they do to support and further the goals of public health and clinical teams. We are immensely proud of Bonny and the work she will be doing with AAB.
