Jon Lipsky

Founder and Chief Executive Officer

Jon is the principal and owner of J Michael Consulting. With over 10 years of experience in public health informatics he has led multiple successful large-scale projects at the federal, state and local level. Jon holds certifications as a Project Management Professional (PMP), a Certified Scrum Master (CSM) and a Six Sigma Greenbelt, as well as an MBA in Finance. He has utilized his project management, IT and public health expertise to manage a number of successful engagements at CDC, and he continues to work within the Laboratory Response Network and Influenza programs at CDC, as well as with the Association of Public Health Laboratories (APHL). He is a recognized expert in laboratory interoperability and has spoken at several national conferences.
Jon was a founding member of several important public health initiatives, working with laboratorians and public health professionals from across the country to create the vision of standardized data exchange that the Public Health Laboratory Interoperability Project is now putting into practice. As part of the PHLIP initiative, he facilitated working calls with more than 100 stakeholders and helped establish and run the Laboratory Messaging Community of Practice (LMCOP), with the goal of reaching consensus standards for vocabulary and messaging. He has direct experience working with a number of LIMS, as well as with a variety of messaging standards.
In addition to leading JMC, Jon was an adjunct professor in the Rollins School of Public Health – Career Masters of Public Health program at Emory University and taught courses on project management.
